About me

I'm Deci, commonly known on the Internet as decipaliz. I am 23 years old and I live in Kazan, Russia.

I work as a fullstack web developer. While I do develop quite heavy web applications, often with demanding frontend frameworks and complex backend logic, I quite enjoy a moment of respite from the modern web, such as making this simple website. Simple is best, and I wish the modern web was more like it was in the era of personal blogs and fun little web pages, even though that makes my job less important. I would actually love doing something else.

In my free time, I enjoy messing with free software. I can't say I've written a lot of critical or even useful software, but what I have is listed on my projects page. Unfortunately, free time is something I don't have in big quantity.

I'm a big FOSS advocate. I'm using Linux, and all of the programs that I use on the day-to-day basis are free and open source. I especially use GNU Emacs and Guix a lot, and without them, my productiveness as a software developer would surely take a hit. Matter of fact, this website itself is written using the Haunt static site generator, which uses Guile Scheme! You can check its source code on my Codeberg.

My favorite programming languages are C and Lisp (especially Scheme). But I'm also proficient with JavaScript, PHP, Go and Python.
